  • Double Glazing

Double glazing is a window made up of two panes of glass spaced apart and sealed to be air tight. The glass panes trap a layer of air between them. The double glazing units work as both an insulator (for retaining heat and preventing cooling) and an acoustic buffer (it reduces the perceived outdoor noise by up to 50%).

Approximately 50% of the heat lost from a well insulated home with single glazing goes out through the windows - double glazing prevents approximately 51% of the heat from escaping.

  • Laminate & Toughened Glass

Toughened glass is 4-5 times stronger than standard annealed glass and should be used wherever a strong resistance to breakage is needed. In the unlikely event toughened glass does break, it simply breaks into small granules.

Laminated glass consists of two or more sheets of glass bonded together with a Resin interlayer. The result is a durable glazing material meeting Grade A safety standards. Unlike toughened glass, if a laminated pane is broken it will remain in place and in the frame.

  • Tinted Glass

If you think tinted glass is all about aesthetics, think again. While there’s no denying it looks great, it also provides two additional advantages over clear glass.

Firstly, a tinted glass will absorb a greater amount of solar heat, reducing the amount that enters the building. This is further affected by the different colours and density of the tint.

Secondly, a tinted glass will reduce the glare resulting from direct sunlight.

  • Joinery Colour

Our standard ColourScape® range boasts no less than 36 powder coat options, plus over 100 more to choose from in matte, gloss, flat and pearlescent finishes. This means that whatever look you’re after, our range of colours can easily complement any existing cladding and roof colours.

Plus if you’re after even more protection, consider anodised aluminium. It’s UV resistant and provides protection from salt air – making it ideal for New Zealand’s coastal environments.
